Alterations were made to this Fort Pitt Blvd crossover to make the connections with the Penn Lincoln Parkway. The original design was similar to the Market St span. When this span was reconfigured as the Stanwix St interchange, the span was widened and entrance and exit ramps were added.
In more recent years some of the thistle railings from the Fort Pitt Blvd design have been replaced by Jersey barriers.
